You demand to apply a lead to make the cow/animal to stand up, only don't walk abroad because then information technology will simply go back in the boat. When on the pb, the animate being volition but kind of stand on top of the boat, then you can destroy the boat with a sword without hurting the animal.

If the cow entered there accidentally,remove the boat past hitting it(don't hitting the cow!),and don't let it get back in the gunkhole again,if you practice not want this trouble once again.

You lot can't hit the boat on the sides or else it hits the animal.
I was transporting my horse and had to get under the boat AND hit the boat in the right spot (seemed to be a bottom corner).

Amazingly I just used a pb to remove a dog from a boat. I haven't thoroughly tested this, just you happen to have a lead, use it on the beast (you may or may not need to 'pb it out').

Just tested this, it works as described. It'southward also documented on the wiki. minecraft.gamepedia.com/Boat#Behavior "(…) until the actor uses a line-fishing rod or lead to remove the mob."

Adding to Bob's answer, yous tin can use F3+B to view the hitboxes of the gunkhole and the animal, to make sure when breaking the gunkhole you lot don't accidentally hurt the fauna too

But if you are beneath the gunkhole when hitting it, you get the boat dorsum in your inventory, so it isn't truely "destroyed". Boats are cheap anyway though.

This wiki article talks most the beliefs of mobs in boats. Apparently, destroying the boat is (still yet) the only way to remove a mob from a gunkhole.
